about me...

Me facepalming straight out of the box
AHHH.... FACEPALM!!

OK, here's the deal....

I have
written, re-written, and just for kicks re-written this "about me" section some more!

If I were to tell you that I'd made 8 to 10 stabs at trying to knock this section over, then I'd be well and truly under-stating the matter.

If I said the figure was closer to 12 or 14 times, then we are most likely in the right ballpark!!

EACH AND EVERY TIME my very own words paint me as a consummate whinger.

You can only "go back to the drawing board" so many times before it's time to throw in the proverbial towel and give up!
And that is where I am right now.

So until hell freezes over and someone puts their hand up to write me a biography I'm gonna go with the more basic stuff and go into why I have the hobbies and interests that I do.

-----------------------

Aviation:

The aviation bug bit young, and there is no doubt in my mind that this was spurred on by the fact that my dad spent his entire working life as an aircraft avionics engineer - responsible for the installation, testing, and maintenance of all aircraft electronic and electrical systems (including communication, navigation, and control systems).

At the age of 15 (1999), I took the steps necessary to turn an interest into more of a career and had my first flying lessons and I had an absolute blast!!

Just 7 lessons into that gig, my flying instructor told me that he felt I was proficient enough to make my first solo flight... something that would normally occur closer to 12 or 14 flights!!

I say that not to blow my own trumpet, rather I think it just goes to show that if you are truly passionate about something,  the knowledge and skills you need just happen to be there.

However, to take your first solo flight you must first pass (at a minimum) a class 2 aviation medical, and as fast as one can say "throw me the keys to the Cessna", I failed in spectacular fashion.

With significant congenital hearing loss, multiple sinus surgeries, and quite severe traumatic brain injury stemming from the resection of a cerebella astrocytoma when I was eleven years of age, there really wasn't ever a snowball's chance in hell of me passing that medical, and I knew it - but one can dream right?!

Electronics / electrical / technology:

The basis for this area of interest again lies with what dad did for a living as an avionics engineer and the sorts of activities that my brother, sister and I did both as children, and part-time work later on whilst we partook in our studies at school / TAFE / university etc.

Photography / videography / media post-production:

I'm not quite sure what spurred me on to take up photography (then videography + media post-production) as a hobby, but I can tell you that I find it most pleasurable.

It is pretty much the only creative outlet I have (or at least know how to exploit).  You can liken it to my two left feet when it comes to dancing!! Hahaha.

Whilst portrait photography is used as a tool to capture "memories" (and certainly do partake in that), my niche is landscape photography.  And if my "work" brings joy to others, I've excelled at my "job".
